The maxilla is extremely important in smile aesthetics.  Its correct spatial position and adequate transverse width are among the most important quality components in achieving facial harmony and aesthetics. In adult and adolescent patients, when maxillary sutures are very complicated or closed, there are two possible treatments for the skeletally narrow and/or retruded maxilla: rapid surgically assisted palatal expansion (SARPE) and segmented osteotomy. The ability to intervene on all these components without the need for surgery is an important assist for the orthodontist. In this presentation, using a group of both adolescent and adult patients, we will show how, using three-dimensional MAPA GPS, it is possible to intervene on all these components with high predictability without relying on surgery.
